Babalou!

I found a great YouTube video of Desi Arnez playing conga with his band. I beg you to watch it...it's a classic. -Omar

Yep I reckon he can beat that drum, huh!?!?

Is that a Conga...seems rather longggg for a Conga...

I'd like to make one similiar someday ??

They're calling it a conga, but I would say it's an ashiko type drum...pretty easy to make with the right jig. We made a bunch of them at EW... I think I still have the plans for the jig somewhere around here....

Drum and Rhythm Events in the Ozarks

"Full Circle Healing Center" Drum Circle from 2PM until 5PM on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month. If weather permits, the drum circle will be in the gazebo in the park across the street from the FCHCenter. 122 E. Main St., Mountain View, AR If folks want to drum past 5PM, we'll do it!
"For Mother Earth Store" (aka "Hippie Heaven") Drum Circle from 2PM until 5PM on the 1st Sunday each month. Downtown Norfork, Arkansas.
Eureka Springs Drum Circle. First Saturday of the month in Basin Springs Park. Afternoon/evenings.
Open Mic Night at Pizza Inn, Melbourne, Arkansas. Every Thursday at 6:30 PM. Bring a drum, bell, shaker, flute...whatever, and join in the music.
Music on the Square in Mountain View, Arkansas. Music jams just start up spontaneously. Friday and Saturday afternoon and evenings in season. Join "Ozark Traditions" concert at the courthouse on Saturday's, 6:30-8:00PM. Not a drum circle, but darned nice!
