Some Drum Rhythms to Learn

Yankadi:  There are many variations on this song...I'll be sharing the one that I know.  This link, Yankadi, has the notation for the song, and you'll probably want to print it out so you can look at it, make notes on it, etc. while practicing. To print, click on the little printer icon, just above the Yankadi document when it opens.

Here is a link to a YouTube video of one version of Yankadi, which is pretty close to the version I know and we've been practicing at our drum circles.  Yankadi Video

Stay tuned for small audio examples of the different parts....and a good look at all the parts of this song.

(Update: I just put a 40 second recording on the "Play Along" music player of the Djembe 1 Part in Yankadi ...look on the right side of the page.  I played it slow so you can follow what I'm playing on the printed sheet.  The quality could be higher, but you'll get the gist of it).

Big Fat Hippy With A Big Fat Drum:

No Kidding...It's a Cool Beat.  The "Heartbeat" rhythm is inside this one, just hit the Base note on both the "Big"s and the Fat"s...the other notes are all Tone notes.   Each syllable gets a note...sing it in your head...big fat hippy with a big fat drum, big fat hippy with a big fat drum, big fat hippy with a big fat drum...feel the swing of it...now play it on your drum.

More Later....Have Fun!
