Amazing Bodhran Drumming!
Holy Moley! I've never really investigated Bodhran drum music that much, for various ego related reasons, but I just found this video and was astounded!! These guys are fantastic...
A favorite frame drummer of mine has always been Glen Velez. His music makes me shiver and shake! This music can be used for Shamanic Trance explorations:
Have yourself a merry little day!

Rare Dance Ceremony and Drumming (The Mali Bobo Tribe)
This video is so very good and so very interesting to watch...I had to share it with you all. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did...some great drumming and some guy playing a xylophone/marimba gizmo...I want one!
"This video was made by Michael Pluznick at a traditional Bobo celebration on the outskirts of Bamako. The Bobo people have lived in Mali and the western part of Burkina Fasso for a very long time, some people say as far back as 800 A.D. Their population is now estimated around 100,000 people....read more at Watch Video on YouTube"

You Can Drum or Dance Along at Home!
I just finished adding two music players to this site...just scroll down the page and you'll them on the right side. Notice that there is a list of songs you can play in each player...just click on the name of a song and it will start playing automatically. Adjust volume by moving your mouse to the little three bar graph thingy in the upper right side of the player.
I named the first music player "Drum Circle Play-Along Songs". Use this music player to practice your skills by playing along with the songs at home. Play a drum, bell, flute, or woodblock, shake a shaker, or tap two spoons together...just try to improvise and have fun! You don't have to play some specific rhythm...just make something up that sounds like it fits.
The first "song" on the Play-Along list is called "4/4 Grove" (Groove) by Christine Stevens. This song is a 7 minute long drum circle that is designed for you to play along with. I highly recommend listening and playing along with this one! If you can play a simple rhythm and fit it into this "Groove", you can play at any live drum circle!
I named the OTHER music player "Drum Music From Around the World". This player holds a great collection of drum related music...what a treasure! Choose a specific song, or just hit the "play" button and the player will play them all, while you surf the web, dance around, or clean house...yeah, sure.... This music will expand your horizons....it's a cultural Trip!
You won't believe this music collection I'm putting together. More to come...stay tuned.

Christine Stevens on Drumming
One of my favorite drum circle facilitators: Christine Stevens, playing a bit and discussing the healing power of the drum...
FYI: At the beginning of the video, Christine is playing the cowbell. The rhythm she is playing is the 2/3 Clave...the keystone that holds the whole rhythm together, two notes...then three notes, or "2 over 3". There are other names for this clave rhythm...but I'll be durned if I can remember them right now.
An easy way to learn it is by thinking or singing the phrase "I Like Chocolate Cake" while hitting the bell...or woodblock...or whatever. Another way to sing or think it is "1, 2, 3 and 4", or maybe this: "ting, ting, ting, ting, ting".....listen for it on the video.

The First Post
Hey all...my first post to the blog...still figuring this stuff out...
Did you know that the "For Mother Earth" store in Norfork, Arkansas has a drum circle on the first Sunday of each month? From 2PM until 5PM.
Call Sandie or Tom if you need more info at 1-870-499-5514 or visit the store's website at http://formotherearthnorfork.com/ Look for the "drumming" section....after browsing the store, of course.
I have a video tour of the store...let's see if I can get it posted here. The video is over a year old...the store is even better now!
Hey, that was easy!
